Dubai Investor & Partner Visa with Company Setup (2026 End-to-End Guide)

Updated 2026-09-0814 min readLexoford Services

Default path: licensed company + investor/partner residence, banking in parallel. Golden Visa is a fork, not included with setup. Service fees and authority fees stay separate.

Most founders who want to operate in the UAE do not need a Golden Visa pitch first. They need a licensed company that can sponsor an investor or partner residence visa, then Emirates ID, with banking running in parallel. A Golden Visa is a separate long-term route. Registering a company does not automatically put you on it.

This page maps the default company + investor/partner residence journey: structure → licence → establishment card and visa quota → entry, medical, biometrics → stamping and Emirates ID → corporate bank in parallel. On fees we stay literal: Lexoford service fees AED 4,999 / 5,999 / 9,999; free-zone and government fees at cost, no markup.

Q1: How do I get an investor or partner visa with a Dubai / UAE company? Form a licensed mainland or free-zone company in which you are a shareholder or partner, obtain the establishment/immigration file and visa quota, then complete entry formalities, medical testing, Emirates ID biometrics, and visa stamping in the UAE. Lexoford Services coordinates formation and visa steps end-to-end. Typical company formation takes about 4 to 10 working days after documents are submitted; being fully operational - residence, Emirates ID, and a bank path - is often closer to roughly 4 to 6 weeks, because banking and on-the-ground formalities take longer than the licence alone.

What investor / partner visa + company actually means

An investor or partner visa here means residence tied to your shareholding or partnership in a licensed UAE entity (mainland or free zone) - not an employment contract with a third-party employer.

Investor vs partner (plain language, not legal advice):

  • Investor - often used when you are the sole or primary owner and appear on the licence / company papers in an investor capacity.
  • Partner - often used when multiple shareholders sit side by side and you appear as a partner on the MOA or licence.

Both sit in the same journey family: structure → licence → establishment / quota → on-ground identity steps. The label depends on how you appear on the papers. Do not treat third-party blog “minimum capital” or ownership-percentage claims as Lexoford guarantees - rules vary by free zone, DET activity, and authority; we confirm on consult.

Once issued, you typically get legal residence, a path to Emirates ID, room for personal banking, and a basis to pursue corporate banking. Family sponsorship can come later - see visa services. Clear boundaries: not citizenship, not automatic tax residency, not a Golden Visa.

Start with structure (do not buy visas before the company fits)

Customer geography and activity decide whether you need Dubai mainland or a free zone; if free zone, then a shortlist of zones. Reverse that order and you often pay for re-incorporation plus a visa redo.

Read first:

This page does not crown a “best free zone.” Wrong structure makes every later visa and banking step more expensive.

The end-to-end journey (licence ≠ fully operational)

Stages below align with the setup timeline. This page focuses on visa type and fee honesty; use the timeline page for detailed durations. Licence issuance is the middle of the story, not the finish line.

  1. Jurisdiction, activity, name - Mainland or free zone; does the activity list cover what you will actually do?
  2. Documents, KYC, initial approval - Passport, photo, proof of address, and related KYC; corporate shareholders may need attestation.
  3. MOA / licence issuance - Typical formation window: about 4–10 working days after documents are submitted.
  4. Establishment card + visa quota - Often about 3–5 days, subject to authority timing.
  5. Entry permit - If you are still outside the UAE.
  6. Medical + Emirates ID biometrics - In the UAE. On-ground steps often compress into about 3–5 days when appointments are pre-booked.
  7. Visa stamping + Emirates ID issuance - Often about 1–2 weeks.
  8. Corporate bank - Run in parallel; frequently the longest track, about 2–6 weeks.

Callout: Licence issued ≠ fully operational. “Fully operational” here means residence, Emirates ID, and a banking path taking shape - often about 4–6 weeks, not the few days of licence issuance alone.

Investor / partner visa vs Golden Visa (a fork, not a merge)

Most founders who need legal residence, an Emirates ID, and a path to personal and corporate banking are well served by an investor or partner visa.

A Golden Visa is a separate long-term residence route with its own eligibility rules. Company setup does not automatically qualify you. Lexoford’s Premium package can include a golden-visa path as a service scope - that is not a guarantee of eligibility, and it is not “Golden included free with every company.”

If someone sold you “Golden bundled into setup,” pause. Read Golden Visa requirements before you pay for a long-term package. This page does not invent investment thresholds.

Q2: Do I need a Golden Visa, or is an investor / partner visa enough? Most founders who need legal residence, an Emirates ID, and a path to personal and corporate banking are well served by an investor or partner visa tied to their company. A Golden Visa is a separate long-term residence route with its own eligibility rules - registering a company does not automatically qualify you. If you are unsure, start with the investor/partner journey and read Lexoford’s Golden Visa requirements page before paying for a long-term package.

Documents and presence (remote vs on the ground)

Usually remote: structure and activity choice, personal KYC packs, licence coordination and name reservation, establishment card / visa-quota sequencing, entry-permit arrangement (if outside the UAE), and bank pre-file prep in parallel with visas.

Requires UAE presence: medical testing, Emirates ID biometrics, visa stamping, and often a bank interview or in-person step (bank-dependent; never guaranteed).

Trip planning: With appointments booked ahead, many clients compress on-ground steps into about 3–5 days. Mandarin-depth remote path: ZH remote company setup; timings on the setup timeline.

Corporate shareholders: Attestation can add about 2–3 weeks - do not publish a go-live date on personal-shareholder timing alone.

How many visas in year one (and how Lexoford packages map)

A licence visa quota is not “free visas forever.” Each residence visa usually carries authority-side costs (medical, Emirates ID, stamping) separate from the service fee. See Dubai company setup cost.

Buy what you need:

  • Shareholder / partner visas - residence for you and co-founders.
  • Employee visas - people you will actually hire, not a speculative stockpile.

Lexoford service tiers (still service fee only):

Year-one visa need (indicative)Lexoford service package
0–1 peopleStarter AED 4,999
2–3 peopleBusiness AED 5,999
4+ people, or a golden-visa pathPremium AED 9,999

Do not oversize “just in case.” Extra authority fees raise year-one cash without creating customers. The cost calculator takes partner and employee visa counts and whether applicants are inside or outside the UAE (change of status).

Cost shape for the journey (not an all-in fantasy)

Three-part honesty:

  1. Free-zone / government fees (licence, establishment card, and related) - at cost, no markup
  2. Visa-related authority fees (medical, Emirates ID, stamping, and related) - itemised separately
  3. Lexoford service fee - AED 4,999 / 5,999 / 9,999

Use the cost calculator and Dubai company setup cost for bands and year-two renewals. Do not compare only against competitor “from USD X all-in” headlines that blur service and authority fees.

On the calculator, Ajman, SPC, Shams, Meydan, IFZA, and RAK are priced; DMCC and mainland are custom quotes. Indicative published examples (not a live quote):

  • Ajman 0-visa free-zone fees from about AED 5,565 → roughly AED 10,500 with Starter service fee (confirm rates and activity)
  • SPC / Shams free-zone fees from about AED 6,885
  • Ajman freelance-style: about AED 6,010 (0 visa) / AED 12,131 (1 visa) - indicative

Lean free-zone year-one totals are sometimes framed around roughly AED 15,000–25,000 depending on zone and visa count - confirm on calculator and consult. Year-two detail lives on the cost insight; this page does not rebuild it.

Q3: What does Lexoford charge for company setup with visas? Lexoford Services packages are AED 4,999 (0–1 visa), AED 5,999 (2–3 visas), and AED 9,999 (4+ visas or a golden-visa path). That amount is Lexoford’s service fee only. Free-zone and government fees - including authority charges related to the licence and visas - are itemised separately and passed through at cost with no markup. Use the cost calculator for an indicative estimate (Ajman, SPC, Shams, Meydan, IFZA, RAK priced; DMCC and mainland quoted case by case), then confirm on a free consultation.

Banking in parallel (expectation setting)

Start the bank file when the licence is ready. Run it beside visa steps - do not wait for every stamp before opening the KYC pack. Banks look at substance, activity wording, and premises. Lexoford does not guarantee account opening and does not publish invented approval rates. If a file stalls or is refused, read bank account rejection.

What extends or breaks the plan

Common delay sources (aligned with the timeline page): corporate-shareholder attestation (+2–3 weeks is common), regulated-activity permits, name rejection, enhanced bank due diligence, holidays and backlog, and change of status if you are already inside the UAE (the calculator reflects related fee differences). Plan for these up front.

China / international founder scenarios

Starting points, not zone crowns:

  1. Solo founder, export / IT, own residency - Often free zone + one investor visa, after confirming structure still fits.
  2. Two co-founders - Think in the 2–3 visa service band; do not stockpile employee visas in year one.
  3. Still overseas (including China); remote licence then one trip - Formation can start remotely; medical, biometrics, and stamping need UAE presence. Many compress into about 3–5 days. Mandarin guide: ZH remote company setup. WeChat Lexoford.
  4. “Golden included in setup” pitch - Read Golden Visa requirements and the three-part fee split. Most year-one needs stop at investor / partner.
  5. Already inside the UAE - May need change of status rather than an overseas entry permit; say so on consult.

We will also say “wait,” “mainland not free zone,” or “investor is enough” when that is honest.

Q4: Can I start from China or overseas? Yes. Much of company formation can start remotely. Medical testing, Emirates ID biometrics, and visa stamping require your presence in the UAE; many clients compress those steps into a single visit of about three to five days when appointments are booked in advance. Lexoford supports international clients, including China outbound founders, with bilingual EN/ZH guidance (WeChat Lexoford).

FAQ

Can I get residency by forming a company?

Usually by taking an investor or partner visa path as a shareholder/partner and completing on-ground formalities. Paying for a licence alone does not auto-issue residence.

What is the difference between investor and partner visas?

In plain terms, the label follows how you appear on the licence / MOA: primary owner framing vs multi-shareholder partner framing. Same journey family; exact wording and eligibility vary by authority and activity - confirm on consult.

Do I need a Golden Visa?

Most founders do not in year one. See the fork above and Golden Visa requirements.

How long until I can live and bank?

Licence often 4–10 working days after documents; residence + Emirates ID + bank-path shape about 4–6 weeks. Banking itself often 2–6 weeks, with no outcome guarantee.

Must I fly to Dubai?

You can start formation remotely. Medical, biometrics, and stamping need UAE presence. With appointments booked, many trips fit in about 3–5 days.

Does AED 4,999 include government and visa fees?

No. That figure is Lexoford’s service fee only; authority fees are itemised at cost.

How many visas should I buy in year one?

Match real shareholder and employee need to Starter / Business / Premium. Do not stockpile.

Can Lexoford help from China or overseas?

Yes. WeChat Lexoford; EN/ZH guidance; remote start plus a short on-ground trip. See ZH remote company setup.

Will you guarantee a bank account?

No. We assist and run the file in parallel; banks decide independently. See bank account rejection.

Soft CTA: map the journey, then itemise

Bring four inputs: activity, customers (outside UAE vs mainland reach), who needs residency in year one, and whether you are already inside or outside the UAE.

Then open the cost calculator (Ajman / SPC / Shams / Meydan / IFZA / RAK priced; DMCC and mainland custom) or book a free consultation for an itemised estimate and a backward plan from your target start date. Hubs: company formation, visa services.
